Description:
A Japanese soba choko and small traditional rice bowl in the style of Mino Ware.  Simple colors and simple patterns makes it easy to use in any season, and a perfect blend with your existing tableware settings.  A soba choko is a specialized type of small cup used specifically for dipping buckwheat soba noodles, commonly enjoyed in Japan in the hotter months.  The small traditional rice bowl is perfectly sized to hold one individual serving of rice.  Both of these vessels could also be used to hold small portions of soups, small appetizers, or even a dessert.

Measurements:
Soba Choko - 3.25'' D x 2.5'' H
Rice Bowl - 4.25'' D x 2.25'' H

History:
Referred to as "Mino Ware," this traditional pottery hails from Gifu Prefecture, nestled in the heart of Japan's Honshu island. The hallmark of Mino Ware lies in its remarkable diversity, boasting over 15 distinct styles that have evolved and persisted through the ages. Mino Ware kilns flourish in areas like Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kawagoe — and Mino Ware is often white glaze with a dotted design.  Today their traditional style is one of the most popular and ubiquitous in Japan, and with many productive kilns throughout Japan, they are able to produce affordable, traditional, common tableware for families and their daily meals.
